BOMB AUSTRALIA
Taken from 'Crouton' Magazine - Winter '98 issue
For those of you wanting to peep dope interviews and the illest soundbites
on the planet, 'Crouton' recommends the BOMB website. Set up and run by our
Bevan Jee, Australian correspondent for BOMB, it is the only website I know
of where you can actually download beatbox samples, making it truly devoted
to the five artistic elements of Hip Hop culture. For those of you who don't
know the BOMB, which is run out of San Francisco (USA), it initially started
out as a magazine back in '91. Nowadays they have stopped publishing the mag
but still devote their energy to Hip Hop culture by running a comprehensive
mail-order catalogue and exposing the illest Hip Hop across the globe on the
now record-label BOMB (the one responsible for the dope-ass compilations of
'Return Of The DJ'), truly enacting their logo of 'whilst other's imitate,
we innovate'. Bevan joined the team from OZ back in '95, and begun the website
around September '96. Since it started the site is up to 140 plus pages and
recently, in July, celebrated their 50,000 guest. Seeing as they only count
one hit from each server per day, that is no doubt a mean feat in itself and
proving just how dope that shit is (My favourite Bookmark!). While we're here,
'Crouton' would also like to give an ultra big-up to Bevan for not only running
a comprehensive mail order catalogue for headz Hip Hop needs over here in
Australia, but also for being the first promoter to bring a Turntablist Tour
to Australia and opening many peoples eyes up to the incredible channel of
expression Turntablism is on the live tip. Q-Bert and Disk (both of the Invisbl
Skratch Picklz) were totally funded out of his own pocket, due to his initiative
on expanding awareness of the Turntable as an instrument. To add to this,
Bevan also runs his own personal website devoted to the Turntable and it's
ever-increasing growth as an instrument. Check for it at; www.turntablism.com
But back to the BOMB…you can peep it in all it's illness at it's new address;
