 DJ SCRATCH

DJ SCRATCH
For over two decades, DJ Scratch has been everyones favorite DJ's favorite
DJ.  Acknowledged as one of the greatest DJs of all time, Scratch is the
man who provided the flamboyance to EPMD & Jay Zs stage shows. Throughout
the years with EPMD, Scratch drove audiences into frenzies with visual and technical
routines far beyond mortal DJs. One of his most famous routines is cutting Big
Daddy Kane's "Friday the 13th Imma Play Jason" line as he emerges from
beneath the turntable set wearing a hockey mask. Various DJ routines & turntable
tricks created by Scratch over the past 15 years are still being duplicated by
concert & Battle DJs today.
DJ Scratch has performed in every market throughout the world in such places as
Latin America, US, Canada, Africa, Australia, Switzerland, France, UK, Italy,
Sweden, Amsterdam, Norway, China & Japan and is one of THE MOST recognized
& respected exhibition, tour & club DJs in the world.
Shortly after winning the New Music Seminar Battle for World Supremacy DJ Championship
in 1988, he joined the RUN DMC Run's House World Tour. Befriended
by the late Jam Master Jay (JMJ) of RUN DMC, JMJ mentored Scratch
& converted him from a raw battle DJ to an all around performer & showman.
In exchange, Scratch taught JMJ DJ solos that he performed in RUN DMC shows ever
since. When the tour ended, JMJ recommended Scratch to EPMD, who needed a DJ with
flair. After EPMD witnessed the DJ phenomenon do tricks at their first show, they
hired Scratch on the spot. The rest is history.

Scratch was the "House DJ" for two nationally aired TV Shows. Not only
was Scratch the DJ for Fox 5's groundbreaking show, Uptown Comedy Club,"
but also the first season of B.E.T.'s "Rap City, The Basement." Scratchs
film credits include "Juice," "The Original 50 Cent," "Fly
By Night, "Rhyme & Reason" & Spike Lee's controversial
film "Bamboozled.  In addition, Coca Cola commissioned Scratch
to produce & feature in their first DJ commercial, "3 DJs.
Having mastered the art of DJing, Scratch pursued his second love, producing.
He is known mostly by his timeless DJ anthems "Funky Piano" and "Scratch
Bring It Back." Scratch has produced tracks on 75% of multi platinum artist
Busta Rhyme's four albums (All four albums went DOUBLE PLATINUM). Thanks to Scratch's
knowledge of what the world yearns for in music, some of Scratch's accolades include
the Grammy nominated single "Gimmie Some More," as well as the hits
"Do The Bus a Bus," "Party Going On Over Here" & "Cha
Cha Cha." His long production roster includes multi platinum & gold selling
artists such as 50 Cent, Jay Z, LL Cool J, Snoop Dog, DMX, Beanie Segal, Cassidy,
Method Man, Redman & Alicia Keyes which makes DJ Scratch responsible for the
sale of over 50 million albums.
Currently, Scratch is filming a Scratch-umentary celebrating his illustrious
career that spans over 20 years. Some of the hip hop elite featured in the documentary
are EPMD, Jay Z, Busta Rhymes, 50 Cent, Swizz Beats, Grandmixer DST, Grandwizard
Theodore, DJ Premier, DJ Clark Kent, Redman & Kid Capri, who have all embraced
Scratchs amazing talents.
Scratch has always preached to the new generation of DJs that in order to become
a complete DJ, you must "crawl before you walk. Therefore, a DJ must
learn to mix & blend before you learn to scratch & cut. By learning in
this order, you will have the ability to master all sectors of Djing.
